This is a course for students who have some experience with creating works in digital media who want
to develop personal projects for projections, installations, screen interfaces or the web. Recent
platforms for digital media production (e.g. Raspberry Pi, Photon) will be introduced and made available
along with software examples.
The course provides a studio elective in which students learn to use techniques in digital media to
develop more complex projects than time permits in introductory courses.
Students in the course will be guided to develop individual projects (installations, screen interfaces
or work for the web) to be completed along with an understanding of the historical and conceptual context for its creation.
Weekly workshops in programming and fabrication techniques will be provided to support the artists' process as well as presentations
on concepts relevant to the course material (databases, server software, generative art, interactivity etc.)
